| The Pointer Tool is used to select a rectangular area of interest
on an image. This area can then be copied to the clipboard or exported. To select an area on the image, select the pointer tool. Place the cursor on one of the corners of the area to select, and press the left mouse button. Drag the cursor [with the left button down] to select the area. A yellow box will outline the area selected. When you have selected the area, release the mouse button. Using the keyboard with the mouse allows some other possibilities for region selection:
